Go Cubs Go!

Getting an Autograph

The Cubs Game (posted by Jen)

Savannah and I went to the Cubs game during our Spring Break. We left early so she could watch batting practice and the pitchers work out. We were both decked out in our Cubs gear and she was so excited. We went down by the field and were standing along the 3rd base wall near the outfield watching the pitchers. Each time a player walked by she would wave to him. She loved being so close to the players and the field. While we were standing there, Carlos Marmol walked over to us and stuck his mitt out to Savannah. He opened the mitt and a ball was in it. Savannah smiled and looked at the ball, then at me. I told her that he wanted her to have the ball. She wasn't sure about taking it and asked me if he really wanted her to have it. He told her to take the ball and she thanked him. Then he was signing autographs near us and I gave her the Sharpie and she got an autograph. As we were walking away, she told me that he was so nice to give her a ball because he didn't even know her. She's so sweet. Once we got to our seats she was hungry and the feasting began. She had two hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, cotton candy and of course some Pepsi. She kept an eye on the scoreboard and would update me and the people around us of the score and inning. She would yell at them when they did something wrong and cheer when they would score. The Cubs lost that game, but she didn't care and now everytime Carlos Marmol comes in to pitch, she gets very excited. She took her ball to school for Show and Tell. She is so proud of it and is turning out to be a fantastic Cubs fan. She can't wait to go to another game.

Summer is on its way

Well the ballet was wonderful!! The Sunday performance was amazing. Those kids are very talented and the production was very well done. Now on to The Nutcracker! as soon as tryouts begin I will let you know. Now on to summer items. Last Thursday we had our first tee ball practice. 7 out of 10 were there, not bad! BUT we have a lot of wok to do. Savannah can hold a bat better than the other 6 boys! One of them said they knew were 1st base was and he would run to it...well he took off for third! One of them almost took my head off because he was WAY too close to me and tried to through the ball too hard. They are cute though. Opening day is May 3rd and I still do not have a schedule! Savannah was late because she and Jen went to a Cubs game and they had a great time. I don't want to say too much because Jen is gonna post about their day. In the next few weeks I look forward to the school production of Grease, chaperoning senior banquet, being a guest at the journalism banquet, attending May crowning at St Cas, seeing Buddha graduate, and finally ending the school year! It has been a tough one. We have a great summer planned. No more volleyball so it is all about the kid! The summer will be filled with trips to Arkansas, camping, Great America, Indiana Beach, zoos, swim lessons, dance camp, oh ya tee ball games, cook outs, and fun! Summer here we come!

Peter Pan Dress Rehersal

This week has been busy to say the least. There was a full cast practice at the IYB studio in Griffith, Monday was a staging rehersal in Crete...which was a bad day. Not only was it a long day and evening, but we lost her new ballet shoes that were need for the show. Mom and kid were tired by the time it was over and we both left them sitting on the floor! We did not discover this however, until we got all the way home! There was yelling, crying...tired! Someone had picked them up and turned them in so they have been recovered! All those tears and drama for nothing. On to Tuesday ... there was the full dress rehersal which included full make-up and hair in curls. Have you ever tried to put eyeliner and mascara on a little face attached to a little body that wont sit still? It is NOT easy. She looked great and it all went well. Wednesday was the first of two school shows. It was a full house and all went well. We still have one more day of school shows, filming on Saturday, and her public show on Sunday. She will have some people in the audience besides the usual mom and Jen: Grammy and Papa from Arkansas are coming up just to see her, Sharon ( her neighborhood grandma), Ray and Sara, Karen Mis and maybe some other teachers from her school. Everyone is so excited and she has been having a blast! Oh ya...Thursday the one day there is NO BALLET, we have our first teeball practice. I am going to go and try to take in some air now...enjoy the pics!

I think I am up and running!

What do you know...pics! With the help of the computer wizard Jen, I was able to somewhat upload some pics for everyone. I still have a lot more to do and organize but baby steps...please! I would love to have some response from anyone so feel free to give advice, thoughts, criticism, money..whatever you would like to give! :) We have a countdown in the works, some banners, a slide show (hopefully) and when I figure it out some video. Sara not only has me involved but it seems Ray has now caught the blog bug and now I feel I have sucked Jen in too! We are all such nerds!

As for pictures...

One major masterpiece at a time please!! I do realize I have not yet posted a picture of my beautiful daughter, but I will. I needed to see if I really could manage to make a post and not blow up the lap top or tap into some Russian spy network. Next task is to figure out how to upload my pictures off of that fancy new camera I have and get them posted for all to see! I even have some little video clips of Savannah playing her guitar and of her coloring Easter eggs while trying to watch The Wizard of Oz! If the waiting seems to be just way to long, send e an email to jolt me to my blog duties!

Finally!

Well I have moved into the modern age and created a blog! Just this week on the cell phone I have had for a year, I learned how to turn it to vibrate. This being said it is understandable why creating some kind of web page has taken so long. My friend Sara Verpooten inspired me to create this and she for some reason, had faith that I could handle it! VP has kept up her blog on her first son Miles. I have been a part of that, receiving email alerts of updates. I wish I had done the same in regards to my wonderful child SAVANNAH! This site will mostly be dedicated to her, about her, and for her!

I am not sure what to exactly include at this point, but I will say life is good and busy. As for me work is busy and with school year winding down it always becomes stressful trying to wrap things up. Savannah is preparing to star in her first real ballet production of Peter Pan with the Indiana Youth Ballet. She has the role of a starfish princess and is a mermaid! She was also picked to hop in the boat with Peter Pan...I cannot wait to see the production. Her great grandmother, Grammy, from Arkansas is making the trip up here just to see her! She continues to take dance at Jeanne's Dance Academy in Griffith and loves it. She is signed up for teeball in Merrillville's little league and her coaches (Me & Jen) are excited to get started! She is doing well in school and continues to enjoy learning! She is starting to read on her own and loves to practice her writing. It appears I will soon have to stop spelling things I don't want her to know about! She continues to grow, to play, to learn, to dance, to sing, to love, to be sweet...she amazes me!!

Another wonderful technological advancement in my life was a digital camera! It is at this point I am sure you are giggling, but yes, I had a 35 mm load the film yourself camera. Now with this upgrade, it will be easy to share pics and hopefully keep up this blog.

AND SO ...IT BEGINS! KROLAK'S LOG
